Guys really like competing with each other.  Not only do they usually enjoy competitive sports, they’re also able to turn just about anything into a contest.  I’ve had milk-drinking competitions, Peep-eating contests (chowing down on the little yellow marshmallow birds you get at Easter) and all sorts of other strange challenges.  Many guys think that the best way to impress girls is to show off somehow, either by showing how much they know about a certain topic or with some moronic feats of strength.  Here’s the secret: the girls aren’t impressed. 

If you’re a boy there’s a good chance that at some point in your life you’re going to want to learn how to impress a girl.  It’s a difficult subject, and I know guys who have gone their entire lives without having a clue of how to impress a girl.  Personally, I think they’re looking a little too hard.  Learning how to impress a girl isn’t particularly difficult, but it does mean that you’ll have to change the way you think about things for a little while.

So how to you learn how to impress a girl?  Well, while the boys were off beating each other up on the playground in elementary school, the girls were probably talking to each other.  Girls like to talk.  Not only do they like to talk, they also like to listen, and they like it when other people listen too.  Especially boys.  One of the best things you can do to impress a girl is to be able to carry on a mature, intelligent conversation with her.  It doesn’t have to be about cold fusion or advanced calculus, but fart jokes probably aren’t such a great idea.  It’s important to ask questions and, here’s the important part, pay attention to what she has to say.  Be interested in what she likes and who she is and she’ll start to pay a lot of attention to you.  You’ll come off as a guy who isn’t a jerk, who isn’t trying to impress her, and who she can relate to.  These are all very good things.

When dealing with the issue of how to impress a girl, some people will say that chivalry is the way to go.  Open doors for her, carry her books, and act like a true gentleman.  Chivalry can be dangerous though, as many girls (especially those with a feminist bent) will see chivalry as an affront, so be careful.  Getting involved in a good conversation may not be the flashiest way to get a girl’s attention, but it has a great chance of working (and you don’t have to gorge yourself on Peeps).

Dating profiles often make it very easy to lie, though it’s not really the fault of the sites that host them. They can’t interview every person who wants to put a profile on their site, and there is no way they can check everyone out. That means if you are going through dating profiles on a dating site that you really have to keep your sense of intuition sharp, and you have to know when you see something that is too good to be true. The perfect person does not exist, though many try to make out like that is exactly what they are.

If you were to read though most of the dating profiles online, you would probably get the idea that everyone out there is perfect in body, face, and mind. We all know this is not true, but many of the people who start online dating often start out representing themselves as something that they are not. They soon learn though, that attracting someone by being less than honest never works. Once they see the real you, you have already deceived them. If people just had more confidence in who they really are, they wouldn’t have this problem.

In reality, the more honest you are on your dating profiles, the quicker you are going to meet someone who is compatible with you. You can put up fake profiles if you want to, but it is not going to get you anywhere. Someone has to be able to know the true you, or at least as much as you can put in dating profiles. They have to have a good sense of who you are before they contact you so that neither of you end up disappointed.

Be honest when filling out your dating profiles and look for those who also seem to be very honest about who they are and what they look like. You may think you are a boring person, but I bet you that you are not. It’s hard to judge ourselves fairly, and it is sometimes hard to fill out dating profiles about ourselves when we sometimes don’t know what to say. If you have that problem, have a good friend who really knows you help you fill it out. They may see the wonderful qualities about you that you just can’t see in yourself. You may be surprised about how great you really are in the eyes of those who know you.

I think that if he knew how to talk to girls he would not be in the lonely situation he is in right now. One thing that bothers many women about his personality is his tendency to talk about money. He always talks about how much things cost, including things he buys for his girl friends. This is a red flag to many women that he is preoccupied with money.

Any man who knows how to talk to girls avoids telling them that the flowers he just bought were a whopping eighty dollars. This just makes the woman feel awkward about accepting the gift. The statement also leaves the woman with the feeling that he is expecting something in return, even if he is not.

We know that he is successful, but we don’t need to hear about how every one at his job either admires him or is insanely jealous of him. If he knew how to talk to girls, he would understand that he just sounds conceited and paranoid. He seems to have delusions of grandeur or he seems to be exaggerating. He also gives the ladies the impression that he thinks that all women are out to catch a wealthy man.

Unfortunately, my friend also likes to discuss other women’s flaws. A man who knows how to talk to girls is aware that women tend to be self-conscious about their looks. If he is picking out flaws in other women, he is most likely going to pick out flaws in his significant other, especially as the years go by.
